Learn how to make Delicious North Indian Style 'Aloo Matar - मटार बटाटा भाजी' with our chef Smita Deo.<br /><br />आज स्मिता देव यांच्या सोबत शिका नॉर्थ इंडियन स्टाईल - मटार बटाटा भाजी. <br /><br />Aloo matar is a Punjabi dish from the Indian subcontinent which is made from potatoes and peas in a spiced creamy tomato-based sauce. It is a proper Dinner/Lunch Recipe and goes perfectly with Naan, Paratha.<br /><br />Ingredients:<br />(Serves 4)<br />- 1/2 cup Cashew Nuts<br />- 1 Onion(diced)<br />- 3 Tomatoes(diced)<br />- 3 Garlic Cloves<br />- 1/2 inch Ginger<br />- 3-4 tbsp Oil<br />- 1 tsp Cumin Seeds<br />- 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder<br />- 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder<br />- 1 tsp Coriander Seeds Powder<br />- 1 cup Green Peas(soaked) <br />- 4 Potatoes(peeled & diced)<br />- 2 cups Water<br />- Salt<br />- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder<br /><br />Method:<br />1. Take cashew nuts in a bowl, and add diced onion, diced tomatoes, garlic cloves, ginger <br />2. Grind all of it together and keep it aside<br />3. Now, in a wok heat oil; add cumin seeds and grounded paste to it, and keep stirring <br />4. Once the oil starts releasing, add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander seeds powder to the wok, and saute it for around 1 minute <br />5. Add fresh soaked green peas and diced potatoes to the wok, and mix it <br />6. Now, add water to the wok, along with salt, garam masala powder, and mix it<br />7. Cover the wok, and let potatoes and green peas cook on low flame <br />8. Once cooked, take it out in a serving bowl and serve it.
